Kill to Eat Photos
“Kill to Eat” is now over. I’m in the process of trying to get the video cleaned up (few preview videos), but having a little troubles. I figured I’d upload some of the pictures I took to keep everyone pacified in the meantime
Fun Fact:
In one week, two weeks prior to “Kill to Eat” I gained 11lbs. I was still eating primally (well except those two times) but had re-introduced lower glycemic fruits back into my diet and strayed from my usual one meal per day. I guess you can get fat from eating apples.
I was consuming 7,000 to 9,000 calories a day (not unusual for me if I eat more than once), a lot of which was coming from these fruits. After “Kill to Eat” I was down 8lbs. I’m guessing maybe 3lbs or so was water.
Some details:
- I covered somewhere in the neighborhood of 45 miles over the three days.
- A good portion of this was very steep, rough, rocky and stickery terrain.
- The video does no justice to the stuff I was crawling though.
- I ate absolutely nothing until & half way through day 3 when I ate 5 clovers (in the video).
- I had a total of 5 liters of water (w/ACV) during the actual hunting.
- The blackberry thorns will most definitely penetrate the sole of Vibram Five Fingers.
- I hammered a pair of Sprints & two pair of Injini socks (days 2 & 3). Sad about this.
- My feet were in the best shape after a hunt EVER, and this was by far the most grueling.
- Thanks to geriatricus for helping me decide on a name for my pet project.

It amazes me anew what guts actually look like! You really never see such things in the Bronx.

Looks like you’ve got some good tracking photos in there. Most people don’t recognize what a discipline good tracking is. I’ve been to a people-tracking course and am just scratching the surface.

@Mark Lee,
No doubt it’s definitely an art. I’m way out of practice right now, but have been interested since about the age of 9. I like reading sign in general.
Most of the tracks were really old or hard to see. These were fairly fresh, both large, good representatives for the species and undamaged by the wind. I figured I better get some photos while I had the opportunity. Glad I did now, because these really were about the best I ran across.

Oh sad! that reminds me of when my freshmen years roommate’s boyfriend hit a chicken while driving and the chicken got stuck in the car. It was disgusting! they kept trying to show me these gross photos! eww… this is bringing back images I don’t want.
